What is a Study?
The scientific term for a test, or study, of a drug or medical device or treatment is called a Clinical Trial. Clinical Trials are done to see if the procedure is safe and effective for people to use; or to see how it compares to existing treatments; or to measure its effectiveness if no current treatment exists.

Do I need medical insurance?
No, you do not need any form of medical coverage to take part in a Clinical Trial.
Return

Will I get reimbursed for my time and travel expenses?
Each study is governed by different rules and protocols. In general you will be reimbursed; however, please ask our Study Director for specific details regarding your chosen study.

How long do Clinical Trials last?
Some are short, a matter of weeks, and some much longer, possibly up to 5 years. We try to provide as much information as possible about each study on the website; however, our Study Director will be able to answer all your questions.
Return

Will I have to attend the clinic in Clearwater?
Again, the answer varies. Some studies require regular visits to the clinic. Some involve only home based reporting, following the initial set up consultation. Others are a mixture of the two.

What do the visits entail?
Each clinical trial has its own set of protocols and requirements. Our Study Director will be able to provide exact and detailed information regarding each trial.

What is in it for me?
Most of our patients need to meet specific criteria to take part in a clinical trial. If your medical condition allows you to take part in a clinical trial, you will be helping to further very important research into possible remedies and cures.
Return

Is my health put at risk?
No, your health is NEVER at risk. All our clinical trials are conducted under the strictest Food and Drug Administration controls and conditions.

What if I have a side effect?
In the very rare event that you have a side effect, our experienced team of doctors and nurses will provide instant and effective support and treatment.

What do I tell an interested individual, friend, family member or another physician about what I am participating in?
We will provide you with complete details of your particular clinical trial; and, as necessary, we will liaise closely with your primary care physician or other interested parties.

What prompted Innovative Research to become involved in clinical research?
Our interaction with our primary care patients makes us very cognizant that many medical conditions are not being controlled or eradicated by available medications, or the available drugs cost more than the patients can afford. Being involved in clinical research allows us the opportunity to provide our patients with new alternatives and solutions. We aspire to be at the forefront of the latest information and cutting edge medical technology.
Return

I have heard a lot of negative press about clinical trials. What do you think about this?
Every form of research has its critics and supporters. We cannot comment on clinical trials in general; however, for the safety and well being of our patients, we take every precaution to ensure that our clinical trials are conducted precisely to the guidelines established by the Food and Drug Administration and other governing authorities.
Return

What do your patients have to say?
Many of our patients have assisted us with more than one clinical trial, which is a testament in itself. However, HIPPA Laws and patient privacy forbid us from revealing our patients’ identity.

What do previous sponsors have to say about you?
